Comment on Reports Regarding Eagle Gold Mine Yukon Disaster
Abstract
This article presents information from various reports on the 2024 disaster at a Yukon gold mine, where Heap Leach Failure at Victoria Gold's Eagle Mine, Yukon. Include the recent 2025 report on the mine failure from the company itself, a 2024 report from Yukon Workers' Safety and Compensation Board, and a 2019 report describing the mine plan. Together, the reports provide insight into the amount of cyanide introduced to the heap leach since it started and discuss potential pollution if left as-is. The report does not provide an estimate of the economic costs of pollution, but it does present a toy model of potential clean-up costs.
