The strategic Role of Technology in National development and Government Innovation
Abstract
Technology has become a critical driver of national development, economic resilience, and institutional efficiency. This paper examines the strategic importance of integrating innovation-driven information technology (IT) systems with government structures. Using the SWIFT financial system and the 2022 sanctions on Russia as a case study, alongside Estonia's digital government model, the paper highlights both the risks of technological dependence and the opportunities of national digital transformation. It argues that developing countries must establish internal technological capabilities to ensure sovereignty, resilience, and sustainable growth.
