Abstract

Two clinical cases of congenital bilateral anophthalmia associated with systemic and syndromic diseases in children undergoing continuous observation at a palliative care facility in the Perm Territory for three years are presented. Currently, only conjunctival hygiene is indicated for these children. Given the bilateral nature of the congenital pathology, the lack of previous prosthetics, and the resulting deformation of the bony and soft walls of the orbit, as well as the presence of severe neurological pathology, step-by-step prosthetics and surgical treatment are currently impossible. Conclusion. These clinical cases of congenital bilateral anophthalmia confirm the importance of early prevention of anomalies. Since the eyeball is formed during the 9th week of intrauterine development, the prevention of these malformations should be undertaken during pregnancy planning. This is especially necessary in families where both spouses have congenital visual pathology.
