Abstract

THE PROBLEMATIZATION OF RACISM IN THE TEACHING AND TRAINING OF CHEMISTRY TEACHERS. Understanding the importance of education for ethnic-racial relations, especially after 20 years of Brazilian Law 10.639/03, which requires the inclusion of African and Afro-Brazilian history and culture in the school curriculum, it is imperative to develop work on the subject in different areas of teaching, also reflecting on teacher training. In view of the above, this work aims to characterize a proposal for teaching and training chemistry teachers to address racism, in conjunction with the Black Movement and in dialogue with the educational perspective of Paulo Freire and Abdias Nascimento on racism. To this end, the Chemistry Education and Social Inclusion extension program developed at the Federal University of Santa Catarina is presented, which contributes to the teaching and training of chemistry teachers in addressing the problem of racism, a process that is permeated by actions of resistance.
