Efficacy of Fractional Plasma Skin Rejuvenation of Lower - Eyelid Wrinkles
Abstract
Background: Wrinkles form due to aging-related damage and incorrect repair of collagen and elastic fibers. Fractional plasma promotes skin renewal, tightening, and hydration by stimulating regeneration and safely resurfacing the skin.Aim: To assess the safety and effectiveness of Fractional Plasma Skin Rejuvenation in the treatment of lower eyelid wrinkles.Patients and methods: This was a prospective clinical trial research performed on 20 cases with Lower eyelid wrinkles, conducted in the Dermatology, Venereology, and Andrology department, AL-HUSSIEN University Hospital. Results: The study included patients aged 37–59 years (mean 50.2), and fractional plasma significantly reduced wrinkle size, depth, and width, with a median improvement of 11.31%. Physician, investigator, and patient assessments showed variable improvement. Side effects depended on skin type: Type V had greater wrinkle reduction but more hyperpigmentation, swelling, pain, and longer recovery, while Types III–IV had fewer side effects and shorter recovery and regarding the side effects, 1 (5%) patient developed edema, 2 (10%) patients developed erythema, and 4 (20%) patients developed skin peeling. Conclusion: Fractional plasma rejuvenation treatment resulted in significant improvements in wrinkle size, depth, and width. Most patients reported positive outcomes and improvements in their self-evaluation. However, some cases experienced side effects like edema, erythema, and skin peeling.
