Abstract

The sense of evil in William Golding's work; Lord of the Flies and how he embodies it, swiftly shifts the attention to the world we live in today. This evil is projected by those people who have an innate darkness that lies within and unleash it in the perpetual environment. This research paper aims to discuss this kind of evil which is presented in Lord of the flies. It is divided into four main parts: the first one is The Introduction; it tackles the sense of evil in general and the universal understanding of its conception. The second one is William Golding's view concerning evil; how does he view evil personally and the turning point concerning his view. The third one is Evil through characterization in this work and how they develop from being innocents into savages; it is traced through the major characters individually. The last part is the conclusion which sums up the findings of this paper.
