Abstract

To evaluate the physiological effects of Bacillus subtilis ATCC PTA-6737(4B1823) as a probiotic versus vitamin-selenium on hematological parameters, liver enzymes, lipid profile, renal function and weight gain of broiler chicks. Thirty Ross 308 of mixed sex broilers chicks of 1 day old divided into three equal groups:- G1 received standard diet for 29 days, G2 received Bacillus subtilis ATCC PTA-6737(4B1823) (10gm/10 litter of drinking water daily for 29 days, G3, received vitamin E-selenium (1ml/4 liter of drinking water daily for 29 days. Blood was collected for estimation of liver enzymes, blood parameters, lipid profile and renal function profile. There was a significant increase in platelet in Bacillus subtilis group, significant increase in WBCs count in Vitamin E-Selenium group. There was a significant decrease in ALP of Vitamin E-Selenium group; ALT in Bacillus subtilis group vs Vitamin E-Selenium group. There was a significant decrease in Cholesterol, LDL level in bacillus subtilis group; LDL in vitamin E-Selenium group, urea of Bacillus subtilis group. The body weight increased significantly in both Vitamin E-Selenium group and Bacillus subtilis groups, compared with the control group. Bacillus subtilis ATCC PTA-6737(4B1823) reduced the level of AST, ALT, Cholesterol and LDL, TG, HDL level and improve platelets count, and body weight in broilers. Vitamin E-Selenium improve WBCs, RBCs, HB, HTC%, body weight and reduce the level of ALP, lipid profile. In conclusion, the current study recommends using Bacillus subtilis ATCC PTA-6737(4B1823) or Vitamin E-Selenium to get the maximum benefit and improve physiological health status and gain of weight in broilers.
