Abstract

This research aims to uncover the civilizational dimensions of the hadith tradition in Islam through an applied study of Imam Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti's (d. 911 AH) book, al-Fanid fi Halawat al-Asanid, as a unique model reflecting the scholarly and cultural unity of the Muslim community through the chain of transmission (isnad). The research proceeds from the premise that isnad in Islamic thought was not merely a means of transmitting hadith texts, Rather, it is an integrated civilizational knowledge structure that represents the memory of the nation and the mechanism for preserving its scientific and spiritual heritage. The study analyzed two main axes: The first - the theoretical and analytical framework of the narrative society, where the concept of narrative and attribution was explained, the emergence and development of the narrative society, its characteristics and mechanisms in transmitting knowledge, With the analysis of Imam Al-Suyuti’s methodology and the content of his book Al-Fanid in light of that, and the second: the civilizational dimensions of the narration society in light of the Al-Fanid model, which include the scientific, cognitive, social, cultural, value and geographical dimensions, where the results showed that Al-Suyuti presented in his book an integrated civilizational vision that makes the chain of transmission a map of knowledge and a unity of the nation, It connects scholars, women, caliphs, and writers in a single knowledge network. The research also showed that the “narrative community” is an accurate term to describe the Islamic civilizational condition, where the hadith scholars were not an isolated group, but rather an extended societal network that included caliphs, jurists, linguists, women, and the general public, making the narrative a culture of the nation and not a function of the elite, The research concluded that the community of the narration represents the highest civilizational model of the knowledge system in Islam, as it combines scientific accuracy, moral justice, geographical unity, and spiritual connection with prophecy, making Islamic attribution a unique phenomenon in the history of human thought, Al-Suyuti wanted to move the chain of transmission from the category of scientific obligation to the category of cognitive pleasure (sweetness), and that the chains of transmission that Al-Suyuti collected indicated that there was no unfortunate separation between the Islamic sciences in the eras of narration, and that the criterion for acceptance in this society was for competence, accuracy and justice, which allowed freed slaves and women, and those outside the traditional Arab centers, By taking center stage in the scientific scene and the participation of the Caliphs in the chain of transmission. The chain of transmission acted as an institution of accreditation and preservation of the civilizational archive, and the connection of the chain of transmission to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and to the prophets before him (such as Abraham, peace be upon him), represents the primary source of spiritual and intellectual legitimacy in Islam.
