Abstract
This research aims to collect the hadiths attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the topic of visiting the sick in the six books. It also works to distinguish the authentic hadiths from the weak hadiths in this chapter, and it also shows what these hadiths indicate in terms of benefits and rulings. The importance of the topic lies in its connection to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), which is the second source of legislation after the Book of God Almighty, Likewise, collecting hadiths related to a single topic has several benefits. Through this collection, the general becomes clear from the specific, the absolute from the restricted, the concise from the detailed, the abrogating from the abrogated, the authentic hadith from the weak, the anomalous from the preserved, the rejected from the known, and so on. Also, collecting hadiths related to a specific topic is the correct way to understand the jurisprudence of hadith, This is the intended outcome of this collection, and in writing this research I followed the inductive, analytical, and critical approach, The most important and prominent results of this research are summarized in the following points: This topic has received great attention in the purified Sunnah, may the best prayers and peace be upon its author, and this is evident from the number of hadiths that dealt with it, There are many hadiths, more than one hundred, and visiting the sick is one of the confirmed matters in Islamic law. Rather, it is one of the communal obligations according to the most correct opinion. Visiting the sick has a great virtue, as it is one of the reasons for entering Paradise, and it is a reason for the angels to pray for the servant, and for him to obtain a great reward from God, Also, visiting a sick non-Muslim is permissible and legitimate whenever there is a benefit in visiting him, especially if he is a relative of the visitor. As for visiting innovators and people of whims, it is not legitimate because visiting them involves having good thoughts about them. Repeating the visit is permissible, as long as it does not cause harm to the patient. Also, the visit is not restricted to a specific time, but rather whenever a Muslim learns of his brother’s illness, Visiting the sick is prescribed, and there is no specific time for such visits, whether day or night. The choice depends on custom, the patient's condition, and what is appropriate for them. Finally, there are many etiquettes and prescribed supplications for visiting the sick, as explained in the hadiths, which the visitor should observe.
