Abstract

Abstract: This study, entitled “Verses in Which the Earth Is Mentioned before the sky: A Rhetorical and Analytical Study,” aims to clarify meanings and uncover the subtle rhetorical, stylistic, and miraculous aspects of the verses in which the mention of the earth precedes that of the heaven. The researcher examines these verses and extracts from them various aspects of the science of semantics, particularly the secret behind word choice, finding therein abundant rhetorical richness. When addressing sentence structure—whether verbal or nominal, declarative or interrogative—it becomes evident that the construction of expression reaches the highest level of rhetorical inimitability, constituting strong evidence that this speech is none other than divine revelation, leading the reader to the pinnacle of certainty in the Holy Qur’an. In addition, the sciences of bayān and badīʿ further elucidate intended meanings without the need for excessive explanation or elaboration. The study adopts the descriptive approach, employing tools such as induction, collection, analysis, differentiation, contemplation, and aesthetic appreciation of the rhetorical features contained in the verses under examination. This serves to demonstrate the precision of word arrangement, composition, meanings, and rhetorical secrets behind the precedence of the earth over the heaven in the noble verses, highlighting the stylistic patterns of the verses under study, which number thirteen (13) verses. The research is structured into two sections: Section One: Verses indicating the comprehensiveness of God’s knowledge (a rhetorical and analytical study(. Section Two: Verses indicating the absolute nature of God’s power (a rhetorical and analytical study) These sections are followed by a conclusion and indexes. This rhetorical study seeks to uncover aspects of textual structure and expressive subtleties in mentioning the earth before the heaven in the verses examined. Undoubtedly, a reader who reflects upon the rhetorical styles of the Qur’an perceives its miraculous nature with awe, thereby attaining a deeper and more refined understanding of its meanings and stylistic expressions.
