Abstract

Aim of the study: This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial effect and postoperative discomfort associated with the Kedo-S Plus rotary file system in comparison with traditional manual files during pulpectomy of primary molars diagnosed with irreversible pulpitis.Subjects and Methods: A randomized clinical investigation was conducted on children aged 5–8 years who required pulpectomy in primary molars. The participants were assigned into two treatment groups: Group I (manual K-files) and Group II (Kedo-S Plus rotary files). Microbial samples were obtained before and after canal preparation to assess bacterial reduction. Postoperative pain intensity was evaluated at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after treatment using a modified Wong–Baker Faces Pain Scale. Results: A marked decrease in bacterial counts was noted in both groups following instrumentation (p < 0.05). Children treated with the Kedo-S Plus system experienced lower pain scores, particularly during the first 24 hours, and required shorter instrumentation time. Conclusions: The Kedo-S Plus rotary system demonstrated antibacterial effectiveness comparable to manual files, with the additional benefits of reduced postoperative discomfort and shorter working time.
