Abstract

This study was carried out in apiary at the Agriculture Research Center to determine how static magnetism affects certain natural materials and compares those effects with those of non-magnetic natural materials on the larvae of the cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis )S. littoralis) (Boisd.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Due to the serious adverse effects of chemical pesticides on ecosystems and living organisms, natural control methods have gained increasing attention as safer alternatives.. The most effective material is a magnetic blend of menthol and basil oils. Magnetic menthol oil, magnetic basil oil, and magnetic seawater with LC50 values of 164.87, 209.50, 581.20, and 7030.99 ppm, respectively. In contrast, the unmagnetic ones reported 2646.99, 3739.78, 6321.94, and 283691.86 parts per million of the combination, basil oil, menthol oil and sea water,, respectively. Protein, carbohydrate, and lipid analysis of S. littoralis larvae in their fourth instar was also impacted by both magnetic and non-magnetic treatments. A magnetic combination of basil and menthol oils are the most highly effective substance. Both magnetic and non-magnetic treatments also had an effect on the protein, carbohydrate, and lipid analysis of S. littoralis larvae in their fourth instar.
