The Effect of Resistance Training Using the Pully System on Certain Skill Variables of Youth Basketball Players
Abstract
Through the researcher’s work in the field of basketball and monitoring the training programs implemented in Egyptian clubs, it was observed that coaches paid little attention to resistance training in the direction of on-court movements, which can develop multiple physical abilities within a single training program and potentially improve certain physical and skill-related variables in basketball.Through personal interviews with some coaches, when asked about resistance training in the direction of on-court movements using the Pully System and its importance, it became clear that there was insufficient awareness in this area. The researchers applied the experimental method on a sample of 40 youth players from Al-Gezira Club. Based on the statistical analysis of the research data, the results demonstrated statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test measurements for the experimental group in some physical variables in favor of the post-test (under investigation). The improvement rates ranged between 9.27% and 38.24%, all statistically significant at the 0.05 level of significance. The duration of the training program was 8 weeks, thereby achieving the research objective, which was to determine the effect of resistance training using the Pully System on certain skill variables of youth basketball players. Accordingly, this method can be relied upon to develop the physical abilities of youth basketball players.
