THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CHEMICAL POISONING AND PERSONALITY TYPE
Abstract
The study aimed to explore the relationship between children's household chemical poisoning and mothers' personality types. The Big Five personality factors scale was used to determine personality types, in addition to a questionnaire designed to monitor household poisoning incidents in children and analyze the circumstances surrounding them. The study relied on a descriptive-comparative correlational approach. The results revealed a statistically significant direct relationship between personality types, particularly the dimensions of neglect (associated with low conscientious behavior) and impulsivity (associated with low discipline), and the likelihood of a child being exposed to poisoning incidents. The results also indicated that a mother's high level of awareness, responsibility, and attentiveness significantly reduces the chances of these incidents occurring. The study recommends educating mothers about the dangers of chemicals in the home environment and the importance of developing organizational and attention skills, in addition to incorporating elements related to understanding personality and preventive behavior into family education programs.
