Abstract

This research focuses on the Sino-American conflict and its impact on the Korean Peninsula; where China seeks to maintain the stability of North Korea and avoid a war that could lead to the collapse of its regime, while the United States aims to contain Chinese influence by strengthening alliances with South Korea and Japan. The conflict on the Korean Peninsula since the 1950 war has been part of the Cold War that emerged after the end of World War II in 1945. However, the effects of the conflict between the Eastern and Western blocs, led by the Soviet Union at the time and the United States of America, remain, despite the disappearance of many of the reasons that led to it. This comes at a time when China maintains special relations with North Korea, which has clung to the last stronghold of the communist camp on its territory, in addition to possessing nuclear weapons and an arsenal of intercontinental ballistic missiles and threatening its neighbors. This led to the continuation of the conflict and prompted the United States and the UN Security Council to impose a strict economic embargo. Therefore, this research examines the impact of the Sino-American conflict on the Korean Peninsula during the second half of the twentieth century.
