Abstract

The research focuses on understanding the Supreme Court in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its legal status, its composition, the competencies of the Supreme Court, and the general reasons for the Supreme Court's review of criminal rulings. Among the most important reasons are: violation of Islamic Sharia provisions, violation of the law and errors in its application, violation of public order, issues related to different types of jurisdiction, the legal composition of the trial court, errors in classifying or describing the criminal fact incorrectly, infringing on the interests of the parties or the right of defense, absence or inadequacy of reasoning, neglecting to address the parties' requests, or contradictions between two judgments or in the judgment itself. A contradiction between judicial rulings occurs when two final judgments conflict to the extent that they cannot be reconciled or executed, provided that the elements of the case—parties, subject, and cause—are identical, and each judgment was issued by a competent judicial authority with finality. This contradiction is considered a breach of the stability of rights and the authority of judgments, as well as a sign of disruption in judicial work, which justifies the intervention of the Supreme Court to remove it, ensuring judicial unity and achieving justice.
