Abstract

The military and security institutions played a crucial role in maintaining the stability of ancient Egypt, protecting its borders, and ensuring internal order. To organize these institutions, various titles were used to reflect the hierarchy and different responsibilities within the army and police forces. In the army, titles indicated leadership and different ranks, such as “Commander of the Army” and “Standard-Bearer,” in addition to specialized roles like “Army Scribe” and “Chief of Chariots.” Meanwhile, in the police force, titles included “Chief of Police” and “Bearer of the Staff,” which represented security responsibilities in cities, temples, and rural areas. These titles reflect the precise system that ancient Egypt followed in managing its military and security affairs. These roles were not limited to warfare but extended to maintaining security and order within society, contributing to the state’s stability for thousands of years. , it can be said that the army and police in ancient Egypt played a vital and complementary role in maintaining security and order within Egyptian society. The army was the striking force that protected the borders and assisted in imperial expansion, while the police were responsible for enforcing laws and maintaining internal order
