Assessment of Glycoprotein Hormones Level (Inhibin and Activin) in the Follicular Fluid at The Time of Ovum Pickup During ICSI and Its Impaction on the Success Rate of ICSI
Abstract
Background: Primary infertility is the case in which a woman has been unable to get pregnant for the very first time, while secondary infertility is the inability to conceive after getting pregnant in the past. Infertility is an issue for approximately 1.5 - 20% of married couples in the United States. Infertility is contingent upon a defect in the reproductive system of either the male or the female or in both. Objective: The purpose of this research is to evaluate the concentration of glycoprotein hormones (Inhibin and Activin) present in follicular fluid during ovum pick up during ICSI and determine their effect on ICSI success rates..Methods: The sample consisted of 80 women with infertility divided into two equal strata based on pregnancy results: stratum 1 consisting of 40 women who became pregnant and stratum 2 consisting of 40 women who remain non-pregnant. The aspirated follicular fluid was analyzed for activin with inhibin hormone levels for and their level for two protocols.
