أثر اللغة التركية في العامية المصرية Linguistic Traces of Turkish Words in Egyptian Dialect
Abstract
This article examines Turkish loanwords in Egyptian Arabic from the Ottoman era to the present day, focusing on their historical, sociolinguistic, and cultural dimensions. The adoption of Turkish words into the Egyptian dialect occurred not only through military and administrative institutions but also in everyday life, clothing, culinary culture, and handicrafts. Based on archival documents, dictionaries, and modern linguistic studies, this research investigates the Turkish-origin words still present in Egyptian Arabic, highlighting their semantic changes and usage in popular speech. The study demonstrates that Turkish–Arabic language contact left a lasting impact, not only at the lexical level but also within broader cultural and social contexts.
