Abstract

This article describes a research project in the preschool classroom that integrates gardening with the creation of poetic verses in order to foster the linguistic, emotional development and environmental awareness of preschool children. The project was based on a qualitative and exploratory approach to reconnect children with nature in an increasingly urbanized context. Poetic art was used as a resource to reflect on the environment and care for the environment. Through gardening and verse composition activities, the children not only improved their language skills, but also developed a greater understanding of natural cycles and an emotional bond with nature, while beginning their training path as little researchers. The results showed a positive impact both on the children’s cognitive and creative development and on the strengthening of their environmental awareness. https://doi.org/10.21723/riaee.v20iesp.1.2023102
