Attempt to Situate. Speak or Let Speak?
Abstract
In this contribution, Lena Ditte Nissen outlines her current artistic research project, Chaosmos of the Personal. She describes her research material — the writings of deceased family members who were female perpetrators in National Socialism, introduces the methodology of the “interpretation workshop,” and explains how she adapted it for her inquiry. She then looks at the research project as an attempt to situate herself through shared communicative and creative processes. This reflection draws from concepts such as Donna Haraway’s situated knowledge, Sandra Harding’s strong objectivity, Lauren Fournier’s autotheory, and the field of ethnopsychoanalysis. Nissen borrows and expands on terminology from Griselda Pollock to introduce the concept of the allo-auto-process as a way to situate oneself critically within the context of artistic research.
