Popularly Cited Wikimedia Research & Methods (2005–2025): Bibliometrics and Matters of Concern

This dataset was created as part of a new media history project dedicated to mapping the development of Wikipedia as a research object over two decades through a bibliometric interpretation of 70 documents. These documents were collected from Google Scholar between August 2025 and May 2026 and were filtered using a purposive sampling method to identify seven popular concerns of this research area.The content of this dataset contains bibliographic and bibliometric data for these popularly cited 70 documents, the categorization system for coding clusters of research concerns identified in this corpus, and the data used to identify the epistemological mode of each research concern.
