Abstract

Teachers Navigating Professional Teacher Development aims at understanding how teachers access and undertake professional development in a refugee education environment in Palabek Refugee Settlement in Uganda. This means I will be studying how teachers find support to deal with challenging circumstances in their school environment, how their professional background supports them in the refugee settlement, who supports them and what kind of resources they draw on to teach and grow their profession in a refugee education setting. At the end of this project, the research aims to generate new knowledge and learning about Teacher Professional Development (TPD) including teacher relationships through co-teaching and how they support teacher professional growth in a refugee education setting. Develop a TPD framework that integrates the idea of care and wellbeing with support from existing interconnected TPD frameworks. Inform policy practices relevant to support TPD in a refugee context in Uganda and across the globe. The research entails Focus Group, Individual Interviews, Classroom Observation and Creative Wellbeing Workshop.
