FASSTEST242525 Project Application summary
Abstract
This project aims to evaluate the offer of diverse styles of synchronous online tuition, namely Relaxed Tutorials and F2f-online sessions alongside the standard type of session as well as the training and resources currently available for tutors teaching these sessions. The current project aims to evaluate the student experience and student take-up of an offer of a diverse mix of session styles on A350. A350, with currently 359 students registered, is one of the two Level-3 modules in Classical Studies, where Relaxed Sessions were introduced into the tuition offer in 24J, and where in 25J both Relaxed Sessions and F2f-online sessions are being offered on all four cluster events in both clusters (so there are eight sessions for each of Relaxed Tutorials and F2f-online tutorials). The overarching research question is tripartite and asks: ‘To what extent can the offer of a diverse mix of session styles as part of the synchronous online tuition enhance the student experience and to what extent do students take advantage of this offer?’ as well as ‘How can we best support tutors in planning and delivering Relaxed Sessions as well as F2f-online sessions?’ The objective of this project is to support the consideration, and possibly implementation, of a wider roll-out of this offer in the School of Arts & Humanities with robust qualitative and quantitative data.
