Comparative assessment of the influence of the sizes and shapes of dental arches on morphological and topographic features of the facе (literature review)
Abstract
Objective: to compare the main parameters of modern medical and diagnostic procedures for patients with abnormal occlusal relationships, as well as methods of mathematical and graphical reproduction of the shape of dental arches, taking into account the characteristics of the maxillofacial region. Materials and methods. To search for relevant publications related to the topic of the study, the scientific databases Scopus, PubMed, BVS and SciELO were used. Results. In total, we found 23 articles that met the inclusion criteria. It is relevant and important for dentists to establish anthropometric and odontological patterns of the location of maxillofacial structures of the facial part of the skull in young Ukrainian men and women and to develop a method for diagnosis and orthodontic correction of maxillofacial deformities, since numerous studies conducted by clinicians and scientists around the world have demonstrated the need to adapt the regulatory framework of classical methods of cephalometric measurements with the help of radiological research for use in different ethnic groups. Conclusions. The proportionality and ratio of different parts of the dental arch and maxillary apparatus, as well as the required number of orthodontic measures in the treatment of dental arch anomalies can be accurately determined by analyzing regression models of reproduction of individual characteristics of the dental arch. This will avoid errors that arise when comparing actual sizes with their statistical norm.
