El mesianismo reimaginado en la cultura contemporánea
Abstract
By integrating philosophical approaches with reception theory, semiotics, critical theory, biopolitics, and political and doctrinal theology, this study analyses Superman as the archetype of secularized messianism and how the figure of the redemption hero is formulated as an immanent pseudo-salvation by modern culture . Barthes interprets Superman as a modern myth loaded with religious and political signs, while critical theory reveals its instrumentalization by the cultural industry. Taubes, Schmitt, and Agamben explain how this figure loses its theological anchorage, representing exceptional sovereignty purely operational. From Hegel and Fichte this figure is connected with providentialist americanism, understanding the superhero as the incarnation of the historical spirit of freedom. The study finishes by proposing the need to restore a Christian heroic account oriented to transcendence, charity sacrifice, and common good.
