Neoplastic disease
Abstract
Neoplasia is encountered in guinea pigs less frequently than in other common small mammal pet species. Nevertheless, neoplastic disease in guinea pigs poses a challenge to clinicians, as guinea pigs’ stoic tendency to mask disease may result in a delay in presentation for veterinary care until the later stages of the condition. This chapter provides a general approach to neoplasia in the guinea pig, covering diagnosis and treatment, and a deeper discussion of dermatological, reproductive and endocrine neoplasia.
