Abstract

Endocrine diseases are considered relatively uncommon in guinea pigs when compared with other mammalian species. However, there are several endocrine diseases of significant clinical importance in guinea pigs, most notably hyperthyroidism. This chapter covers diseases of the thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, and endocrine and exocrine pancreas, as well as selected multisystemic, genetic and hepatobiliary diseases.
