Revisiting Sapta Horesha theory or Bhaanu Soma theory-Logic behind days of the week
Abstract
The science behind the names of the week-According to Jyotissastra of Indian sages there is logic and science behind the names of days of the week-Why रविवासर is called ravivaasara, why सोमवासर is called somavaasara, why मङ्गलवासरः is called mangalavaasara? To discuss this aspect two basic quotes “दिनद्वादशांशो मतः कालहोरा” and सप्तैते होरेशाः” are taken into consideration and analysed. There are a lot more deep and vast scientific insights starting from the first ever literature ऋग्वेद to the many ancient astronomical texts written in Sanskrit. In this paper the logic and science behind the names of the days are brought to light.
