Abstract

The current study represents an effort to produce a natural dyed fabric without any use of harmful chemical and achieving a greener and sustainable textile. The study involves evaluating the impact of different extraction conditions and dyeing process variables (including dye concentration, pH, time, temperature, and MLR) on the surface colour strength, relevant colour parameters, and colour fastness of the dyed fabric. Through this analysis, optimal values for dyeing with rheum emodi on pre-mordanted catechu cotton fabric have been determined and established as dye concentration 15%, pH of 6, time 45 min, temperature 80°C and MLR 1:20. Dyeing parameter such as pH, dye concentration and MLR exhibit a significant dispersion of CDI values, highlighting their predominant role in the cotton fabric dyeing process using Rheum Emodi and one should be careful about these critical parameters. Furthermore, it was observed that darker shades of pink were achieved when dyeing was conducted under acidic pH conditions.
