Young femoral head fracture dislocation from low impact trauma: A unique case report
Abstract
Femoral head fracture dislocation is an uncommon injury, typically resulting from high-energy trauma such as road traffic accidents. Its occurrence following low-impact trauma in young individuals is exceedingly rare. We report a unique case of a young adult who sustained a femoral head fracture dislocation after a trivial fall. The patient presented with acute hip pain, deformity, and restricted range of motion. Radiographic evaluation confirmed posterior hip dislocation with an associated femoral head fracture. Prompt closed reduction was performed, followed by advanced imaging to classify the fracture and guide management. Surgical fixation was undertaken to restore joint congruity and minimize the risk of complications. Early mobilization and structured rehabilitation were initiated. At follow-up, the patient demonstrated satisfactory functional recovery without evidence of avascular necrosis or post-traumatic arthritis. This case highlights the importance of early diagnosis, appropriate classification, and timely intervention in achieving favorable outcomes even in atypical low-energy mechanisms.
