Impact of the new tax regime on investment
Abstract
Individual investing behavior has been greatly impacted by India's new income tax regime, which has caused a shift in emphasis from tax-saving strategies to return-oriented and goal-based investments. Taxpayers now have more disposable income due to lower tax rates and the elimination of the majority of exemptions and deductions, but they are less motivated to participate in conventional tax-benefit programs like ELSS, PPF, and insurance products. Investors are encouraged by this structural shift to put long-term asset development, risk assessment, and financial returns ahead of tax reduction. As a result, the new tax regime encourages a more logical, straightforward, and market-driven approach to investing, changing patterns of capital allocation and personal financial planning.
