An analytical study of Pradhan Mantri Yojana schemes supporting Poshan Abhiyan: A focus on women and children’s nutrition in Karnataka
Abstract
Introduction: Malnutrition among women and children remains a major public health concern in India, particularly in rural regions like Mandya district. To address this, the Government of India launched the Poshan Abhiyan (National Nutrition Mission) in 2018, aiming to improve nutritional outcomes through convergence of various Pradhan Mantri Yojanas such as PM Matru Vandana Yojana, ICDS, JSY, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Poshan. Using a mixed-method approach, both qualitative and quantitative data were collected from beneficiaries, Anganwadi workers, and healthcare providers. The findings indicate that while a majority of respondents are aware of the schemes and report improvements in health and nutritional knowledge, significant challenges persist in terms of infrastructure, monitoring, and grassroots-level convergence. The study highlights the critical role of Anganwadi centers and frontline workers in delivering services and generating awareness. This study seeks to evaluate the implementation, awareness, and effectiveness of these schemes in improving the nutritional status of women and children by the residents of Karnataka population. Methods and Analysis: A standardized review has been carried out based on the statistical and observational studies which include policies that directly or indirectly affect awareness and focus on women and children’s nutrition. Additionally, important government websites and various aspects of references have scanned in the studies to identify potential track records. Studies will be categorized through quantitative and qualitative, and mixed-methods synthesis will be employed to explore the findings. The article furnished with well-structured questionnaire and data collected from 100 samples in Karnataka. The data analysis has been done by using statistical tools including frequency table and Chi Square test.Ethics and dissemination: This review will be based on published studies and beneficiaries or community participants directly; therefore, ethical clearance is not applicable. We will disseminate the final review findings in a national or international symposium and publish in peer-reviewed articles.
