Abstract

qThe COVID‑19 pandemic led to a significant drop in global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) nearly one-third from 2019 to 2020. Remarkably, India bucked this trend, attracting increased FDI in 2020-21 and continuing strong inflows despite global volatility. During the financial year 2024-25, India recorded a record of 81.04 Billion US Dollar in FDI, an impressive 14 % year-on-year jump with the country rising to 15th place globally in 2024. In this dynamic context, the present paper makes an attempt to examine how India leveraged strong economic fundamentals, investor-friendly policies, and digital infrastructure such as UPI, fintech expansion, and data‑center investments to emerge as a global digital marketplace. Key drivers include digital governance, scalable tech solutions, and sectorial reforms. Further, the analysis highlights India's sustained attractiveness to global investors and posits that its evolving digital ecosystem offers a replicable, sustainable model for post‑pandemic digital leadership
