Abstract

A pre experimental research study where one group pre-test - post-test design was used to assess the effectiveness of foot reflexology to reduce labor pain during 1st stage of labor among the mothers admitted in SCB hospital, Cuttack, Odisha. The data were collected from 40 labor mother by consecutive sampling technique by using modified MCgill pain index. Results: ‘Z’ test and chi square test has been done for descriptive and inferential statistics. It was revealed that the calculated ‘z’ values are higher than tabulated ‘z’ value 2.0 at 5% level of significance, which shows that highly significant and the null hypothesis is rejected. It depicts that there is difference between pre-test and post-test scores which shows high effectiveness of foot reflexology in labor pain. The difference between pre-test and post-test scores among mother is only because of the intervention of foot reflexology on reducing labor pain by the researcher and not by chance. Conclusion: From the findings of the present study it is concluded that foot reflexology on reduce labor pain is effective during 1st stage of labor among the mother in reducing labor pain.
