An analytical study of professional ethics of teachers in government and private schools of Kangra District
Abstract
The present study investigates the level of professional ethics among government and private school teachers in the high secondary schools of Kangra District. A sample of 100 respondents was selected from different higher secondary institutions using the random sampling technique. The study employed the Professional Ethics Scale developed by Dr. Aashiq Ahmad Thoker as the primary research instrument for data collection. The collected data were analysed using descriptives and inferential statistical techniques to examine differences in professional ethics between teachers of government and private schools. The findings of the study revealed that no significant difference exists in the level of professional ethics between government and private school teachers. The results indicate that professional ethical values and standards are uniformly upheld across both sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to professional integrity, responsibility and ethical conduct in the teaching profession. The study contributes to the understanding of ethical practices in school education and highlights the importance of strengthening ethical awareness and professionalism among teachers irrespective of institutional affiliation.
