Comparative study on family entertainment of visually impaired students and normal eyesight students
Abstract
The present study explores differences in family entertainment experiences between visually impaired students and normal eyesight students. The study investigates how family environment contributes to entertainment activities within families of both groups. A sample of 80 students (40 visually impaired and 40 normal eyesight) was selected from inclusive schools in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Family Environment Scale (FES) by Kumar & Shrivastava (2016) [6] was administered to assess family entertainment levels. In this research an attempt was made to find out the pattern of family entertainment of visually impaired and normal eyesight students. It was also hypothesized that significant difference will be found between the groups. Two groups comparative research design is used. Visually impaired and normal eyesight students worked as independent variable, whereas family entertainment used as dependent variable. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were employed to compare scores are the two groups. Results revealed significant differences in family entertainment scores, for both the groups suggesting that visual impairment influences family leisure engagement. Implications for inclusive family activities and family counselling interventions are discussed.
