Abstract

This study compares the social maturity of mild and moderate autistic children to find out the level of social maturity among them. It also aims to compare there two groups on their emotional, social and adaptive behavior diversions. A number of finding found that mild and moderate autistic children differ on their social maturity level.( Fombonne, (2002)) [3]. Children with mild autism require support whereas moderate autism needs substantial support, (Hodgdon, (1999)) [4]. The child who faces type 1 level of autism will need more support to function in social situations. Mild autistic children face difficulties in social and communication skills on the other side moderate face more significant problems in the above areas (Kashinath.etal,(2006)) [6]. Present study is focused on to study the level of social maturity among mild and moderate autistic children. It was hypothesized that mild autistic children will have higher level of social maturity level than the moderate children. It was an ex-post research in which autism disorder was taken I.V. and social maturity as D.V. A sample of 50 autistic children where selected through purposive sample method, 25 children were belonged to mild category and rest were to moderate category. Vinland social maturity scale (Raj, (1992)) [11] and ISAA (NIMH 2009) [5] are used for research purpose. Findings supported to the hypothesis.
