Abstract

The present study aimed to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the perceptions of physical education and sports educators towards Naim Süleymanoglu. The study group consisted of faculty members, physical education and sports teachers, and undergraduate students (n=480) studying in sports science faculties in Turkiye during the 2024-2025 academic year. In the data analysis, preliminary analyses were first performed, outliers and extreme values were identified, normality tests were conducted, and correlation and anti-image matrices were investigated. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) revealed that the scale has a single-factor structure. The factor loads of the items were generally concentrated above 0.70, and the total explained variance was found to be 75.5%. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) conducted to validate the model revealed good fit indices (χ²/df = 1.82; CFI = 0.960; TLI-NNFI = 0.953; RMSEA = 0.063; SRMR = 0.025). Reliability analysis showed a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.983. A single-factor, 15-item, 5-point Likert-type “Naim Süleymanoglu Perception Scale” (NSPS) was developed. In conclusion, the Naim Süleymanoglu Perception Scale was found to be a valid and reliable measurement tool.
