Effect of Strength Training on Arm Explosive Power of Women Ball Badminton Players
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to examine whether strength training could improve arm explosive power of women ball badminton players. Thirty women ball badminton players from colleges affiliated to Vanavarayar Institute of Agriculture, Manakkadavu, Divansapudhur, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, aged between 18 and 25 years, were randomly selected as subjects for the study. The participants were divided into two equal groups of fifteen each. Group I served as the strength training group, while Group II acted as the control group. The experimental group underwent a structured strength training program for twelve weeks in addition to their regular academic and sports activities, whereas the control group continued their normal routine without any specialized training. Arm explosive power was assessed using the medicine ball throw test. The collected data were analyzed using the dependent t-test, with the level of significance set at 0.05. The results revealed a significant improvement in arm explosive power of the experimental group compared to the control group after the training period.
