Anthropometric and performance characteristics of male basketball trainees: A camp-based assessment
Abstract
The present study aimed to evaluate the anthropometric and performance characteristics of male basketball trainees during a structured camp-based assessment. A total of twenty (N = 20) NCC-affiliated male basketball players aged 18-25 years participated in this cross-sectional investigation. Anthropometric variables included age, height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI), while performance variables comprised Standing Broad Jump (SBJ), Shuttle Run, 50 m sprint, sit-ups, and 600 m run. Descriptive statistics (Mean±SD) and Pearson’s product-moment correlation analysis were applied to examine relationships among variables. Results indicated moderate variability in anthropometric characteristics, with overall normal BMI values. A very strong negative correlation was observed between SBJ and 50 m sprint time (r = -0.88, p
