The relationship between process performance and underhand passing quality in Yuso Sleman volleyball athletes
Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the quality and analyze the relationship between process performance and product performance in the implementation of basic underhand passing techniques in Yuso Sleman youth volleyball athletes. The method used was quantitative descriptive with a correlational approach. The sample consisted of 50 athletes (25 male and 25 female) selected using purposive sampling. Data collection used the AKOB test instrument for process performance and the Battery Test for product performance, which were then analyzed using Product Moment correlation. The results showed that the majority of athletes, both male and female, had process and product performance quality in the “very good” to “fair” categories. Furthermore, a significant and positive relationship was found between process performance and product performance in both groups, with moderate correlation values in male (r=0.603) and female (r=0.613) athletes. Process performance contributed 36.36% (male) and 37.57% (female) to product performance. It was concluded that the quality of movement processes has a close and significant relationship with the quality of the final underhand pass, which reinforces the importance of proper technical training for volleyball athletes.
