Effects of the antifungal activity of medicinal plants from Niger on fungal species found in livestock feed
Abstract
Molds cause serious diseases in animals and losses in commercial livestock feed. The objective of this study is to evaluate the antifungal activity of 26 medicinal plants on six species of mold isolated from livestock feed sold in four markets in the city of Maradi. Fourteen (14) families were used, among which the Fabaceae family was the most dominant, with a frequency of 28%. Leaves were used much more frequently (65%) than bark (23%) and other parts of medicinal plants. Eleven (11) plants showed greater fungicidal efficacy than the other 25 medicinal plants tested, with an average inhibition rate of 70%. Statistical analysis showed a very significant difference between plants according to their total average inhibition rates (p
