Abstract

Kerala, known for its rich biodiversity and traditional Ayurvedic heritage, offers a wealth of medicinal plants with potential thrombolytic and antithrombotic properties. This review compiles evidence from published in-vitro, ex-vivo, and limited in-vivo studies on plants commonly used in Kerala, emphasizing species such as Murraya koenigii, Kaempferia rotunda, Curcuma longa, Ocimum sanctum, Tinospora cordifolia, and Fagonia arabica. The article explores their phytochemical profiles, mechanisms of action, and translational potential as natural thrombolytic agents. Challenges in standardization, safety, and clinical validation are also discussed.
