A review on the recent drugs approved for the treatment of the inflammation
Abstract
Inflammation has a major impact on the onset and progression of many acute and chronic disorders. The cornerstone of conventional care has been corticosteroids and similar drugs, which are useful in relieving symptoms but have nonspecific activities and systemic adverse effects. Advances in our understanding of inflammatory signaling pathways have led to more targeted and disease-modifying therapeutic approaches. This review examines recent advancements in targeted anti-inflammatory therapy, including Janus Kinase (JAK) and Tyrosine Kinase (TYK2) inhibitors and biologics that target key cytokines like IL-17 and IL-23. It also evaluates developments in pharmacogenomics and nano-enabled drug delivery technologies that have improved medication safety and accuracy. Targeted therapies have been effective in treating inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atopic dermatitis. However, optimizing equitable access and evaluating long-term outcomes remain challenging issues.
