Abstract

The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) offers a systematic framework to probe possible heavy extensions of the Standard Model. Since different extensions of the Standard Model contribute to a broad set of Wilson coefficients, the global analyses approach is essential to capture their combined impact and disentangle possible new-physics scenarios. With the increasing precision and breadth of experimental data, it becomes essential to ensure a theoretically consistent interpretation. A key aspect in this regard is the role of renormalisation group evolution (RGE), which links measurements performed at different energy scales and provides the correct treatment of scale hierarchies in combined fits. In this study, we examine the consequences of incorporating RGE effects into a global SMEFT analysis under the assumption of a $U(3)^5$ flavour symmetry for dimension-six operators. Our results demonstrate that RGE running not only strengthens the bounds on certain Wilson coefficients that were previously weakly constrained, but also introduces novel correlations among parameters absent at tree level. These findings highlight the significant impact of RGE on the interpretation of SMEFT global fits.
