Abstract

Introduction: Nursing research has experienced significant growth in Honduras; however, it is still necessary to strengthen this area to generate a greater impact on the population and on public health policies. Objective: To analyze current trends in nursing research in Honduras, identifying its progress, challenges, and implications for clinical and educational practice. Reflection: A reflective analysis of nursing research in Honduras was conducted, based on a review of documents, scientific publications, and the experiences of Honduran nursing professionals. This reflection moves from the analysis of research as an essential pillar of the nursing discipline in Honduras, the transformation of the nursing role and the contribution of research to new forms of care, the main research lines, and concludes with a critical analysis of nursing research in Honduras and the opportunities to strengthen this essential dimension of nursing practice. Conclusion: Nursing research in Honduras has shown significant progress but still faces limitations related to training, resources, and institutional coordination. It is essential to consolidate a strong research culture aligned with the needs of the health system to ensure high-quality, ethical clinical and educational practice committed to the well-being of the population.
