Digitalización y agencia femenina en microempresas
Abstract
The article analyzes the digitalization experience of microenterprises led by women within the framework of the Yoi Mujer Workshop, developed as part of the Mujer Emprende Program (PME) in Chile. Its objective is to understand how women entrepreneurs’ appropriate digital tools to showcase their products, build virtual storefronts, and participate in digital markets from a situated perspective. The main theoretical categories guiding the analysis are “network enterprise” (Castells), “subordinated informality” (Pérez Sáinz), fair, collaborative, and associative digital markets, and intersectoral public action. These concepts allow for a critical examination of the relationship between digitalization, economic autonomy, and structural inequality. The methodology combines participatory ethnography, narrative analysis, and critical discourse analysis, enabling the reconstruction of technological appropriation trajectories from the participants’ experiential field. The women protagonists are characterized by their agency, resilience, and capacity to build life projects, articulating popular knowledge with digital strategies. Within the workshop, they assume roles such as publicists, managers, and brand designers. The article’s main conclusion is that digitalization, when articulated through intersectorality and institutional support, can become a tool for productive inclusion and symbolic recognition. However, it warns that digital gaps cannot be bridged solely through technical training; rather, they require public policies that acknowledge the structural conditions of informality and economic exclusion. The Yoi Mujer Workshop experience is presented as a replicable model of collaborative public action with a territorial approach
