Abstract

The deployment of autonomous systems in chaotic regimes—from the aerodynamic instability of Wing-in-Ground (WIG) craft to bifurcations in power grids—remains the defining challenge of 21st-century engineering. For decades, safety-critical control has been shackled by the "Linear Illusion"—the fragile assumption that local linearization suffices for global stability. This paper dismantles that barrier by introducing the Koopman-Kalman Safeguard (KKS) , a paradigm-shifting framework that unifies spectral operator theory with optimal estimation to guarantee safety in regimes previously deemed uncontrollable. We propose a novel methodology that lifts nonlinear dynamics into a global linear observable space, transforming the intractable problem of stabilizing chaos into a deterministic, convex linear algebra problem (Ax=b). By fusing the global topology of the Koopman Operator with the stochastic optimality of the Kalman Filter, KKS generates a high-fidelity "Virtual Impulse Response" that allows for the rigorous falsification of controllers without physical risk—effectively solving the "Learner’s Dilemma." Empirical validation demonstrates that KKS successfully predicts and prevents catastrophic divergence where traditional Extended Kalman Filters (EKF) fail, all while circumventing the "Thermodynamic Wall" of edge computing. This work establishes the theoretical foundation for Post-Modern Control , demonstrating that chaos is not an adversary, but merely linear dynamics viewed from the wrong perspective.
