Abstract

The rapid growth of higher education institutions and the increasing mobility of students have intensified the demand for efficient, transparent, and scalable student accommodation management systems. Traditional accommodation processes-often characterized by manual record-keeping, fragmented communication channels, and limited real-time visibility-struggle to meet contemporary expectations for accessibility, responsiveness, and operational efficiency. In response to these challenges, this study presents a hybrid mobile and cloud-based solution designed to streamline and modernize student accommodation management through seamless integration of mobile interfaces and cloud infrastructure. The proposed solution leverages hybrid mobile application technologies to provide crossplatform accessibility, enabling students, administrators, and accommodation managers to interact with the system using a single, unified application across multiple devices. By integrating cloud computing services, the system ensures centralized data storage, high availability, scalability, and secure access to accommodation records, booking information, payment status, and maintenance requests. The cloud backend supports real-time data synchronization, automated workflows, and role-based access control, thereby reducing administrative overhead while improving data consistency and system reliability. From a system design perspective, the architecture adopts a service-oriented approach that separates the presentation layer from backend services, allowing independent scaling and maintenance of system components. The mobile frontend focuses on usability and responsiveness, while the cloud layer manages business logic, data persistence, and security mechanisms. Key functional modules include accommodation listings, application and allocation management, communication and notification services, and administrative analytics dashboards. Non-functional requirements such as performance, data privacy, fault tolerance, and extensibility are also addressed through the use of modern cloud deployment strategies. This research highlights the practical benefits of combining hybrid mobile technologies with cloud platforms in the context of student accommodation management. The proposed solution demonstrates improved accessibility for users, enhanced operational efficiency for administrators, and greater adaptability to institutional growth. Ultimately, the study contributes to the broader discourse on digital transformation in educational support services by illustrating how mobile–cloud integration can be effectively applied to solve real-world management challenges within higher education environments.
